Apps overview and selection
ITRS Analytics apps provide tools for monitoring, investigation, administration, and integration. You access their user interfaces from the Web Console.
The apps are bundled with an ITRS Analytics installation package. Each installation package contains a defined set of app versions, which can differ between package releases. You cannot select or install a different version of an individual app during installation.
Select apps Copied
You select the apps that you need during the initial installation of ITRS Analytics. Apps are not installed separately.
The app list in the KOTS Admin Console identifies:
- Required Apps — Alerting, API Gateway, Commands, Entity Viewer, IAM, Query Service, and Web Console. These apps are selected automatically and cannot be deselected.
- Optional Apps — Apps that you can select based on your monitoring and operational needs. Ingestion, Alerting, and Notifications are selected by default, but you can deselect them.
- Beta Apps — Pre-release apps provided for evaluation. Beta apps may change and can introduce operational risks. Do not use them in a production environment.
The apps available for selection depend on your installation package and license entitlements. Agentic SRE also requires an Agentic SRE entitlement. If you select Agentic SRE, the Secrets app is enabled because Agentic SRE requires it.
Complete the remaining installation steps. After installation, sign in to the Web Console and select an installed app from the navigation menu. Some apps require additional configuration, as described in their documentation.
Note
To identify the app versions supplied with your installation package, see its Bill of Materials in the ITRS Analytics Packaging release notes. To review changes and known issues for a specific app, select the app in the ITRS Analytics Apps release notes. For minimum supported versions, see the ITRS Analytics Compatibility Matrix.
Operations Copied
Use these apps to monitor services and investigate changes. Web Console and Entity Viewer are installed automatically. Select the other operations apps according to the tasks that your users need to perform.
Access the Web Console Copied
The Web Console provides the common user interface for ITRS Analytics. Use its navigation menu to switch between the apps installed in your environment. Web Console is a required app.
Explore monitored data with Entity Viewer Copied
Entity Viewer helps you find monitored entities and inspect their hierarchy, metrics, and current state. Use it to move from an estate-level view to the details of a specific monitored component. Entity Viewer is a required app.
Build operational views with Dashboards Copied
Dashboards combines key performance indicators, charts, and dataviews in a customizable view. Use it to monitor the information that is most relevant to a team or service. Dashboards is an optional app.
Investigate alerts with Alerting Copied
Alerting provides a consolidated view of signals and alerts. Use it to assess severity, investigate the conditions that triggered an alert, and snooze alerts when appropriate. Alerting is an optional app selected by default.
Investigate events with Logs Copied
Logs provides tools to search, filter, and compare log data. Use it to narrow a large volume of events and examine logs related to an incident. Logs is an optional app.
Investigate service performance with Traces Copied
Traces shows distributed traces, spans, and relationships between services. Use it to follow a request across services and identify where delays or failures occur. Traces is an optional app.
Review activity with Audit Copied
Audit records user and system activity. Use it to review changes and actions for operational investigation or compliance requirements. Audit is an optional app.
Control stored data with Ingestion Copied
Ingestion shows how data enters ITRS Analytics. Use it to manage ingestion filters and retention settings, review data eviction, and monitor ingestion statistics. Ingestion is an optional app selected by default.
Integrations and administration Copied
Use these apps to connect ITRS Analytics with other services and manage the environment. API Gateway and Commands are installed automatically.
Connect external tools through the Public API Copied
The Public API, also known as API Gateway, allows external tools and integrations to access ITRS Analytics data. It is required by Dynamic Thresholds, Signal Forecaster, Geneos Active Console charts that use ITRS Analytics data, and the Grafana data source. Public API is a required app.
Send alerts to other services with Notifications Copied
Notifications routes alerts to supported external services. Use it to notify teams through channels such as email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, ServiceNow, or webhooks. Notifications is an optional app selected by default.
Manage Geneos configuration with Centralised Config Copied
Centralised Config provides a central location for Geneos Gateway configuration and binaries. Use it to manage configuration across supported Gateways without maintaining each one separately. Centralised Config is an optional app.
Manage user access with IAM Copied
IAM provides identity and access management settings. Use it to configure authentication, users, roles, and supported single sign-on providers such as SAML or OpenID Connect. IAM is an optional app.
Run Geneos commands from Entity Viewer Copied
Commands enables supported Geneos Gateway commands in Entity Viewer. Use it to take an available action on a monitored entity without leaving ITRS Analytics. Commands is a required app.
Use ITRS Analytics data in Grafana Copied
The Grafana data source enables Grafana dashboards to query metrics and logs from ITRS Analytics through the Public API. It is a Grafana plugin, not an app selected in the KOTS Admin Console. Install it from Grafana or the ITRS Resources site by following the Grafana data source documentation.
Analytics and AI Copied
Use these apps for analysis, forecasting, capacity planning, and AI-assisted investigation. Agentic SRE is a beta app intended for evaluation in non-production environments.
Adapt signal thresholds with Dynamic Thresholds Copied
Dynamic Thresholds learns the usual behavior of a metric and adjusts thresholds as that behavior changes. Use it when fixed thresholds create unnecessary alerts or do not reflect normal variation. Dynamic Thresholds is an optional app and requires Public API.
Predict metric behavior with Signal Forecaster Copied
Signal Forecaster uses historical data to forecast metric values. Use it to compare observed values with expected behavior and generate signals when they differ. Signal Forecaster is an optional app and requires Public API.
Monitor capacity within ITRS Analytics Copied
The Capacity app provides capacity monitoring, planning, and reporting within ITRS Analytics. Use it to review resource use and evaluate capacity without publishing data to an external Capacity Planner instance. Capacity is an optional app.
Publish data to Capacity Planner Copied
Capacity Planner publishes monitoring data from ITRS Analytics to an external ITRS Capacity Planner instance. Use it when Capacity Planner is part of your capacity management process. Capacity Planner is an optional app.
Monitor FIX sessions with FIX Monitor Copied
FIX Monitor provides views of FIX sessions, messages, metrics, and session events. Use it to identify session-level issues and investigate activity in a FIX environment. FIX Monitor is an optional app.
Use Agentic SRE for operations support Copied
Agentic SRE provides an AI assistant in the Web Console. Use it to ask operational questions and receive guidance while investigating monitored services. Agentic SRE is a beta app and requires an Agentic SRE entitlement.
Infrastructure Copied
These apps provide services used by other ITRS Analytics apps. Query Service is installed automatically. Secrets is a beta app and is enabled when you select Agentic SRE.
Support data queries with Query Service Copied
Query Service prepares entity data for other ITRS Analytics apps. It runs as a background service and is not an app that users open in the Web Console. Query Service is a required app.
Store credentials for supported apps with Secrets Copied
Secrets stores API keys, tokens, and other credentials used by supported ITRS Analytics apps. It allows those apps to use credentials without displaying their values to users. Secrets is a beta app and is enabled automatically when you select Agentic SRE.
