User Menus

Overview

It is possible for an administrator to customize user menus. This lets the administrator limit the menu options for users by hiding certain parts of OP5 Monitor.

Note that this will not restrict access, only hide the item in the menu.

Users with multiple group memberships

If a user is a member of multiple groups all of the restrictions made to either group will be applied. This means that if group A has restrictions to view the Manage section but group B does not have this restriction and a user is a member of both group A and group B the restriction from group A will be applied.

Customizing

Per group only

Please be aware that control of menu access is only at the user_group level: it is not possible to control on a per-user basis.

Full-access users have complete control over what other user_group have available in the OP5 menu. To make a user_group available to edit the User Menu, the "Access Rights" in the "Misc" section of the Group Rights page must be unchecked. All other group rights are allowed.

Steps

  1. Click on your user name in the top right of the OP5 GUI and click on "My Account":
  2. At This point you should be at the "My Account" page. Click on "Edit user menu":
  3. This brings us to the "Edit user menu" page. Select a user group from the drop-down:
  4. Now we are where the magic can happen. This page will enable you to remove links and menus from the user_groups GUI. Each option will hide that menu item when it is checked. You can hide an entire menu by selecting the main menu title, or select individual areas from a menu:
  5. Be sure to click "Save new settings!" when you finish editing your user menus.

Menu Options Selection Details

This is a table of what each individual option hides from the user.

Dashboards This removes the actual "Dashboards" menu, however the user will still see the default dashboards assigned to that user. They will be still be able to edit the dashboard through the active dashboard options menu on the right of the dashboard
