Plan the cluster

A Gateway Hub installation consists of a number of individual servers called nodes. A set of nodes collectively form a cluster.

The first step in deploying Gateway Hub is planning how many servers are required to form the cluster. This is done based on the work that Gateway Hub is expected to perform and the specifications of the nodes.

The minimum recommended number of nodes to ensure resilience is 3.

To determine whether an individual server is capable of contributing to the cluster, check Hardware requirements and Software requirements. One of the most common reasons for installation failure is the unsuitability of a node in the cluster.

Cluster Requirements

The number of servers required for Gateway Hub will differ considerably based on a number of factors such as server specifications, expected workload, size of your Geneos estate etc. However, you can get a rough measure of the number of servers required for Gateway Hub by entering the number of managed entities in your Geneos estate and adjusting the storage per server in the form below:

Number of managed entities
Storage per server (TB)
