Note

OP5 Monitor does not use the Apache Log4j library and is not affected by the Log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228). To know more about the impact of this issue to the products and components, see Vulnerability in Apache Log4j (CVE-2021-44228).

MON-12992 pnp Generation of PDFs from graph baskets containing graphs using the lslprediction-label template now works correctly.
MON-12998 Backup Fixed an issue causing the interactive mode in op5-backup to not work correctly.
MON-13001 Autodiscovery IP addresses with a maximum length of 15 characters are now correctly discovered. Also, the timeout of a running discovery job has been increased.
MON-13002 Nacoma Network scanning of large ranges no longer leads to the UI being inaccessible.

MON-10881 The check_vmware_v2 plugin has updated the default interval used for checks targeting host systems and virtual machines from 20 to 300 seconds. The interval of 300 seconds may not be supported on all VMware installations, which then results in the interval or counter not being recognised. To resolve this issue, perform a yum clean all command, then yum update. Note: If you have upgraded to OP5 Monitor 8.3.6 after 10 November 2021, 17:00 CET, then you will not encounter this known issue.

MON-12679 Generic HTTPS has now been enabled in the OP5 Monitor package repositories and is now enabled by default in the yum configuration files.

Note

Beginning OP5 Monitor 8.3.4, HTTPS is enabled by default on all OP5 Monitor repositories in the yum configuration files. When you update, the OP5 Monitor server will communicate with the repository over port 443 instead of 80. For customers whose applications are set behind firewalls that prohibits communication over HTTPS to the repository server, we recommend that you revisit your firewall settings, and update them accordingly. Otherwise, this may cause problems when upgrading to newer OP5 Monitor versions. The System updates service, which is part of the self monitoring, can be used to detect if there are any issues after updating to OP5 Monitor 8.3.4.
MON-12845 Config GPG signature checks in the OP5 Monitor repositories metadata are now performed by default when installing or upgrading the OP5 Monitor packages.
MON-12880 Nachos Improved error messages from Nachos for quicker locating of existing configuration issues.
MON-12883 LMD LMD has been updated to version 2.0.2 to stay in sync with upstream. For more information, see LMD changes.

MON-12482 Plugins The check_vmware_v2 plugin now supports VMware vSphere API 7, while version 5.5 and earlier are no longer supported.
MON-12668 Plugins The check_vmware_v2 plugin now uses % instead of Percent in the output when running check, and the unit num was removed from the check results.
MON-12677 Slim Poller Fixed an edge case that could possibly causie all nodes to be auto-deleted on full network outages, potentially causing master to takeover checks. To ensure that the master does not end up taking over checks, never auto-delete a single node in a poller group.
MON-12801 Slim Poller This introduced the following changes:* Refactored locking causing fewer stale locks. * New log format and log level can now be set with the LOG_LEVEL environment variable. * Slim Poller does not restart on cluster update if no changes are detected. * Removed ability to disable encryption.
MON-12802 Slim Poller New Merlin setting ipc_blocked_hostgroups allows blocking checks of objects in the specified hostgroups. This can be used to ensure a node does not execute specific checks in cases where takeover=no would no longer apply because the node was removed.
MON-12847 Config, Slim Poller Initial object state after Naemon restart is no longer configured to be logged by default in new installations.
MON-12848 Merlin The mon log import command no longer displays output when updating Merlin using yum update.

Merlin protocol update

In OP5 Monitor 8.3.0, the Merlin protocol has been updated. When updating to this version, all instances of OP5 Monitor, such as servers, pollers, and Slim Pollers, must be the same version 8.3.0 to function properly.

Slim Poller

Beginning OP5 Monitor 8.3.0, SSH keys must be set up differently. For more information, see Set up Slim Poller.

MON-10734 Merlin Merlin now saves binlog persistently over restarts. This makes report data more reliable, and alleviates sync issues caused by network outages in multi-node environments. You can disable this behaviour by setting binlog_persist = 0 in merlin.conf.

MON-12663 A few customers have reported that their security solutions are flagging the package masscan-1.0.3-5.el7.x86_64.rpm as suspicious, hence preventing its download when updating OP5 Monitor. In OP5 Monitor, Masscan is used by Nacoma for service discovery on hosts in the monitored network, by scanning and detecting open ports. The full repository path to the package is http://repos.op5.com/epel/7/x86_64/Packages/m/masscan-1.0.3-5.el7.x86_64.rpm Whitelisting the package should resolve the issue.

MON-11533 plugins An update is available for the OP5 Monitor server management pack, which changes the behaviour of the yum update service. When applied, you must remove the old service manually to avoid duplicates. Unlike previous updates to the pack, this does not require force activation.
MON-10491 Autodiscovery Autodiscovery now supports scheduled discovery jobs.
MON-10450 Autodiscovery With exclusion lists, you can now exclude certain hosts from appearing in the discovery results for scheduled jobs.
